扬州市职业大学外语系创建于2002年，2007年改名为外国语学院，开设商务英语、应用英语、商务日语、应用德语四个大专专业。17年以来我们一直致力于培养复合型、应用型、兼具中国文化和国际视野的外向型外语人才。此外，学院还承担全校非英语专业学生的公共外语课程，包括英语、日语、德语3个语种。
学院教师数全校最多，师资力量雄厚，在省内享有一定声誉。现有专任教师77人，副教授以上职称23人，拥有硕士研究生学历教师60多人，有国外学习或研修经历教师20多人。
学院坚持“以研促教，以研促学”理念，教师科研兴趣浓厚，拥有自己研究方向。近年来完成各类课题100多项，有效反哺教学，提升教学效果，推动学术研究。坚持“以赛促教，以赛促学”理念，成立6个竞赛小组，近年来省赛获奖达30多项，提升了教师业务能力、增强了学生专业技能。社会服务是学院重要工作之一，我院英语教师每年两次担任全国PETS口试考官工作，主动为扬州中小微企业员工提供各类培训。
学院坚持以教学改革为抓手不断提升教学质量，近年来主要实施了1）大学英语分层教学改革；2）推行全校行业英语教学改革；3）信息化技术与外语教学深度融合。通过三项改革因材施教，满足不同英语水平需求、满足社会需求、满足学生专业发展需要。
在学校大力支持下，近年来，学院语言实训条件大有改观，综合语言实训室、同声传译室、云网络情景模拟实训室、文化体验室等一批先进实训场所建成并投入使用，为教学活动搭建有效平台，优质的实训条件受到省内外兄弟院校和行业一致好评。

About us
School of Foreign Languages (SFL)officially came into its own in 2007, its predecessor is Department of Foreign Languages founded in 2002. We offer 4three-year programs, Business English, Applied English, Business Japanese, and Applied Germany. During the past 17 years, SFL has been focusing on nurturing inter-disciplinary, applied and international talents with a Chinese mind and global vision. In addition, SFL offers English, Japanese and German courses to non-language majors of Yangzhou Polytechnic College (YZPC) as their first or second foreign language.
Our Staff
With a teaching staff of 77, among whom 23 are full or associate professors,SFL is the largest school at YZPC and is one of leading teams in Jiangsu province. More than 60 teachers have acquired their MA degree. Over 20 faculty members have either studied or taken refresher courses overseas.
Our Highlights
Based on the research-driven notion, most teaching staff enjoy and share their own research interest in different fields. In recent years, our members have completed over 100 research projects, which shed light on our teaching effectiveness as well academic development.
Competition-oriented notionis another feature of our school. Six teams have been established so asto improve professional skills of teachers and students.In recent years, we have received more than 30 province-level awards.
Community service isalso one important responsibility of SFL. Each year our teachers undertake two tasks, oral tests of PETS (Public English Tests) for other colleges, and staff training of SME (small and medium-sized enterprises).
Our Reforms
Teaching reforms are always on the track. In recent years, we have implemented three reforms for non-English majors, Stratified English Teaching, EOP teaching, and Integration of IT (information technology) into Foreign Language Teaching, by which we can make our teaching more targeted,in line with students’English proficiency, social needs and personal wants.
Our Facilities
With the financial support from our college, we have made noticeable progress in improving our conditions of language teaching & learning, including Smart classroom, Simultaneous Interpretation room, VR classroom etc. These facilities have provided excellent approaches for our learning activities, and have won acclaim from both peers and the industry with competitive advantages.
